ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF.

Terrell Harris (also known by his moniker “T-REX Harris”) is a University of Alabama at Birmingham Alumni. He graduated April 2022 with a BA in Art with a Graphic Design focus. While his family will claim that he has been designing his whole life, using graphic applications on the computer to make custom greeting cards for his dad, mom, and sisters at the tender age of 3 years old, it was not until 2019 that Terrell decided to seriously pursue his inherent love for art. Since then, he has created multiple personal designs primarily centered around his interests in video games and music. He has received a handful of commissions ranging from Twitch livestream overlays to entire brand logos. His work has also been featured in three Community Spotlight segments for the popular video game franchise Halo. In addition, Terrell continued to expand his skill set by enrolling in the Full Stack Web Development course at Jefferson State Community College, learning skills such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, as well as MySQL. Terrell continues to pour his energy and passion into his creations and his education with the sole intent to sharpen his skills and fulfill his dreams designing for the world. His artistry has progressed, matured, and developed, and is now poised and ready to inspire, excite and entertain all who have the pleasure of beholding his works.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“There are vast, gorgeous worlds crafted with care and passion in a video game. The stories they tell, the lessons they teach, the atmosphere that immerses you, the music that enhances the experience. Video games culminate from an array of artists from all specializations and backgrounds working together to make one vision a reality. And in moving to bring my very own visions into fruition, I often find that my work sets out to recapture the feelings I had when first experiencing those various works of art. From video games to music to movies, once I witness moving content, I come away inspired and ready to create masterpieces of my very own.

My main designs range from posters, wallpapers, and even album covers. When a moment in a game captivates me or an album really resonates with me, I try to recreate those feelings and emotions within my work. I strive to transmit everything I feel in that particular moment into the design. I ask myself not only if it looks appealing, but also if it’s accurate to the source material even when adding my own flair to it. If I was collaborating with this studio or music artist, how would I best represent the passion put into their work? How would this look as an advertisement on the side of a website, or as someone’s wallpaper on their phone or computer? But most importantly, would I use this myself if the roles were reversed? Putting all these questions into perspective helps structure the foundation on how I approach my next design.”
